Our favorite time of the year is here! I can't believe Christmas is in just over 2 weeks! Zach and I both love everything about the holiday season - a decorated tree, Christmas lights, wrapping gifts - it's all so fun! And we just got to go see "White Christmas" at the 5th Ave Theatre, which was amazing! Don't know if it'll be white here, but it sure is FREEZING!
It's been a quite a change for me this year...I'm generally able to run around getting everything done. All the shopping, a perfectly decorated tree, baking fun treats - but the doctor has ordered rest as we wait for our sweet Paisley Joy to arrive. So, I've settled for a mostly decorated tree, Zach put out some Christmas lights, we've done a lot of online shopping....and I'm learning to sit back and just soak in the season instead of running around. I'm also co-directing the kid's Christmas program at church again this year, so that's keeping me on my toes until the 19th! It's definitely an adjustment, but we're making it - as long as I don't end up driving poor Zach crazy - he's the one having to constantly watch me and remind me to rest! I don't know what I'd do without him. :)
It's hard to believe we're getting so close to meeting our sweet little daughter. The nursery is pretty much ready (just needing a few finishing touches), the drawers are filled with the cutest little baby clothes I've ever seen, we're totally excited, and I'm getting bigger and more uncomfortable by the minute! It has been SO fun watching Zach get ready for her arrival - so many things to learn, and SO much pink! He's going to be a natural at the daddy thing and she's already got him wrapped around her tiny little finger - I can totally tell! We know this last little bit is going to fly by with everything going on for the holidays, etc - so we're just trying to savor every minute of this miracle!
Bonus Picture: Zach straps the frog in to get some practice with the new baby carrier we received! :)
I'm not sure that I've experienced anything like our trip to Texas last week. I mean, I had an absolute BLAST....but I don't think I was near prepared for how Zach would react. It was better than a kid in a candy store, better than a kid getting everything he wanted for Christmas and passing out later from all the excitement. I think we packed a good portion of Zach's "dream list" into 4 days! I was exhausted just from watching his pure excitement! :) Obviously, just going to my home land - and our soon to be new home - was amazing enough. Yes, it started out with a whole catastrophe with our rental car - but it all worked out! The weather was gorgeous, and we even had a great thunderstorm one night! The real deal kind where they issue a weather warning. Not the Pacific Northwest kind where if you blink you miss the lightening part, and the thunder makes you wonder if it was just your stomach growling. It was the strobe light in the room, rattle the walls kind - and we LOVED it!
We scored tickets to Medieval Times at the castle in Dallas, so Zach was entertained by clashing of metal, fighting knights, and eating rotisserie chicken with our hands. What more can a guy ask for, right?! I enjoyed myself too - mostly watching him!
Sunday - COWBOYS GAME, ROMO UP CLOSE, NEW STADIUM, COWBOYS WIN -*sigh!*
With both of us being lifelong, diehard Cowboys fan - it was a dream come true to go to a game in that new state-of-the-art stadium. It was breathtaking - literally, there are no words or pictures that could capture it - even a Cowboys hater would be in awe! Not to mention, it's refreshing to be cheering at the top of your lungs with thousands of other people in their Cowboys jerseys - doesn't happen much (or EVER) around here! I think Zach almost passed out from excitement several times! The game was amazing, but not nearly as fulfilling as watching my husband live out a dream!
We did some neighborhood scouting on Monday, which was hugely successful and made us want to be there now! And I introduced Zach to Whataburger - which was glorious and torturous all at once. It's so delicious and so sad to think of how long we have to wait to eat it again! :) We also packed in a trip to the zoo and aquarium! The only downer to the trip was having to come home so soon.
Anyway, I think I'm finally over the flu and recovering from the bronchitis. And we pulled off the church Harvest Party without dying from exhaustion. That thing was a LOT of work - but a huge success! :) Now, somewhere in the busyness of life, I'm just wanting to get some things done around the house and decorate the nursery! I can't wait to see the finished product - and I really can't wait to see the finished product of what's cooking in the belly! :) After much deliberation, we've settled on a first name(middle is still to come)....... PAISLEY! We're so excited to meet little Paisley and are having so much fun getting ready for her. She's already quite entertaining as she barely ever quits moving and always seems to be up to something. When I go to bed she thinks it's time to practice kickboxing, when I eat she gets the hiccups, when I finally sit down she kicks my bladder! From what my mom has said, she's nothing like me! (hahaha!)
Well, that's about it for now. I could go on and on with all that is going on, but I'll try to update again soon!
I know, I know....long overdue again! I cannot believe it is already OCTOBER! Fall is officially in full swing. Leaves are changing colors, the weather is ..... much cooler, and the holiday decorations are front and center at every store! I'm not a fan of cold weather - mostly because I'm always cold anyway - but I can't lie - I do LOVE this time of year! It's absolutely beautiful....and it's only 79 days until Christmas, which means Thanksgiving is even sooner. :)
I'm now 23 weeks pregnant with a perfect, healthy baby GIRL....and slowly but surely feeling a little better (well, except the cold/flu-ish thing I have right now). I definitely am not at 100% and I try hard not to envy those pregnant women who just run around with so much energy and health like nothing is even happening to their bodies. My body reminds me every hour that it's different and not liking all the changes. I, however, am LOVING it. I'm officially to the point where people notice I'm pregnant (not just chubby), I can feel my baby girl moving constantly, and I'm in full planning mode to meet her! :) I don't know if this is any indicator of what is to come (maybe she's taking after her dad....hahahaha!), but she is CONSTANTLY moving... I sometimes wonder if she even sleeps! It is such a constant reminder of the little miracle though and I am SO, SO, SO excited to meet her! She is now a little over 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (the weight of a large mango)!
Below are some pictures of the progress made in the nursery while my parents were in town (and no worries - those nasty curtains have been removed!!) We were able to get the crib put together, a dresser done (my old set as a girl with some new knobs!), and a changing table/dresser built (zach and my parents built a removable changing table attached to the top of my old desk - so it can be removed when we're done with it!)
Oliver has been pouting since we kicked him out of the room. Sometimes he just goes in there and howls...but he's adjusting! :) We're mostly done with our registry, which is a relief - especially for Zach - who was not pleased to learn they dedicate full WALLS just to types of baby bottles to choose from (and then there is more variety online)! But Zach has stepped up to the daddy challenge and done his fair share of research on everything we've needed - and is seeming quite prepared! :) I know I said in my last post that I was a little nervous for if this was a girl.....but I am SO excited! The Lord has calmed all my fears and I am finding things - even bedding - that I LOVE! :) However, our very favorite is currently out of stock - so pray for us to find it somewhere. I really, really love it! WE had our hospital birthing center tour and pre-registration this past weekend - so we are now prepared for where to enter the hospital, where we will be going - and Zach knows the best route to get there! Things are looking good! ;)
We also went to the Keith Urban concert this past month, which was AMAZING! We went with our friends Micah and Rachel - and we had great seats!! It was a blast - and baby Snyder's first concert! We can totally already tell she's a fan of Keith! ;)
We also went to Toronto - I haven't had a chance to get those pictures on the computer yet. We were there a couple weeks ago to help with a ministry conference. It was a wonderful, whirlwind of a time. We made many friends, saw lives transformed, and were so encouraged by what is going on at the church there! We only wish we lived closer! :) Zach got to teach in the Living Free course and did AWESOME! I so love watching my husband preach - he has such a gift and is so passionate!
That's all for now! I'll try to get another post up before we leave for our Texas trip in a couple weeks....but if not, COWBOYS game pictures and Zach in FULL glow coming soon! :)
So life got a little busy, and I didn't get to this as quickly as planned! oh well! Baby Snyder is now 18 weeks old and doing well! Heartbeat is still around 150 bpm - such a precious little sound! Our little monkey is now the size of a sweet potato (which I think looks disgusting):So I'm going with the other site that says a bell pepper - YUM! An average of 5 1/2 inches from head to bum (apparently the legs don't count yet!!). And this week's big development - baby's ears are now in the right place on the little head! YAY - less alien-like! Baby can now hiccup, swallow, yawn, roll, punch, etc. I wish I could just watch all day! I am doing better - still quite sick and taking my prescription - but I feel like it's getting easier at least. The great news is I'm finally keeping down enough that I'm gaining some weight back and the doctors are no longer concerned about that. The weight loss I had made my regular pants fit better, but I'm on to maternity shirts as I have quite the baby bump!
The big news, we've decided to find out what we're having since this is our first! The ultrasound is Thursday, September 17th at 11am (PST). So, if you want to know if it's a boy or a girl - pray for our little monkey to cooperate and show us what we need to see! :) In the meantime, since there have been some strong opinions of the gender between family and friends, we've posted a poll on the side bar here and also on our facebook accounts. Voting will remain open until the night of the 16th! To be honest, I (steph) am now thoroughly confused on my opinion and have NO idea what we're having. All I know is that if it's a girl, I need serious help in picking names I actually like and finding decorations that don't make me cringe - like the Ballerina Princess Bear set I saw the other day. YIKES! :) Well, I have plenty of time I suppose!
Anyway, my parents are driving up this weekend and I am beyond thrilled to see them! I hate being so far away from them. They have also so generously bought our crib for us and are bringing that along with some other nursery furniture to set up this weekend! I'm secretly squealing inside I am so excited! :) Also, we finally got our new camera - so many pictures to come!
oh, and in other news - Zach's birthday and birthday present was a HIT. Zachary Tyrone will be getting to attend a Dallas Cowboys football game in the NEW Cowboys Stadium on October 25th. (with me of course!) He almost passed out when he got his present and I think the shock is still sinking in - it's a dream come true for him. And since we've both been huge Cowboys fans all our lives - you better believe we're gonna live it up. So more to come on our Texas "scouting" and football trip!
WOW! So much has happened over the last couple of years and with so many friends and family that do not live nearby - what better way to keep everyone updated then by jumping on board with blogging! People have been trying to get me on here forever, and finally I feel like it's necessary! :) I'll try to be good about keeping this updated! For now, if you're up for reading a small novel - I'll get you up to speed on our lives....
Well, most of you know that we got married April 12, 2008 here in Tacoma, WA and we honeymooned for 2 weeks in the Dominican Republic! It was AMAZING! And since then, obviously the biggest news for Zach and I is that we are expecting our first little baby! We're due February 3rd, 2010 - so we'll see when our little monkey decides to make it's debut! We are so, so thrilled - many of you know that I had some pretty serious health issues over the last 2 years, and doctors had been a bit skeptical about my ability to get pregnant, and if I did - for my body to be able to carry a baby through the first trimester. Though I've had some horrendous morning sickness (all day long) - it turned out to be a huge blessing -as that was the first sign to all of us that my body was working to protect our little one. On July 6th, we got to see Baby Snyder for the first time and it was breathtaking. Our little monkey is looking very healthy and so far my body, though pregnancy sick, has actually seemed to kick itself back into gear - which is a whole other miracle!!! :) We've made it through the first trimester and things are looking good. Now, here's hoping the sickness can let up and my body will adjust - i'm sure hungry!! :) I continue to work for Charles River Laboratory (a work from home position, which is wonderful) and also work at our church as the office manager. Zach switched jobs in January and is now working for Harborstone Credit Union. He loves it, is totally exceling, and got promoted this month! In May, we also moved into a house, which is bigger than our old apartment and costs LESS! We love it and we are so thankful for God's provision for us!
Our little beagle pup, Oliver, is now a year old and he loves having a yard that's his own to explore with his little hound nose and he LOVES being in water! :) He is so much fun and we just love having him! He had a little health issue awhile ago and required a pretty massive surgery, but he's finally back to normal and doing really well! We're not sure how well he's taking the news that he is soon not going to be our focus - and has seemed a bit concerned with me being sick. Oh well, he'll eventually get over the shock! Our other big news is that we are planning on moving down to Texas next summer. More to come on that, but it makes my little Texan heart so happy! :) I think that's about all the big stuff for now! I know, not much has changed, right?! hahaha! We sure hope to be able to keep in touch everyone this way and keep you all a part of our lives! Much love,
